Her journey into the field of psychological well-being began in 1997 with her involvement in support and rehabilitation of patients transitioning from long-term residential psychiatric care into community based settings. She has since had the privilege of supporting people in a variety of Mental Health and Alcohol & Drug services, and attained her Bachelor of Alcohol and Drug Studies at the Wellington Institute of Technology. She began researching a professional framework on which to attach her evolving philosophy eventually discovering, training and affiliating to EAGALA (Equine Assisted Growth & Learning Association) in 2007.
In 2008 she traveled to Australia, United Kingdom and USA to further her experience, education and qualifications in Equine Assisted Personal Development (EAPD). Upon her return to NZ she set up Horsepower Aotearoa Ltd and began delivering services to individuals, families and groups.
